Abigail Ekue Photography presents Bare Men
ONE-NIGHT ONLY
Abigail Ekue Photography presents the Bare Men Pop-Up exhibit at The Living Gallery in Bushwick, Brooklyn. The one-night only event will be held on Thursday, May 19 from 6-9 PM.
This is the first exhibit to promote the ongoing Bare Men series and subvert the censorship of male nude photography.
Previously unreleased images will be exhibited alongside photographs included in the Bare Men book. Artwork exhibited will be available for sale ranging from $30 to $60 USD.
Bare Men features art, editorial and erotic nude photographs that capture moments of joy, angst, self-care and self-love, playfulness, doubt and reflection.
Through Bare Men the notion that there is no interest in male nudity outside of the gay market is challenged. Abigail Ekue has opened viewers' eyes to the inherent beauty, sensuality, sexuality and vulnerability of the everyday man.
Bare Men was started in response to the double-standard of male vs. female nudity in the art world and to include men that are not usually represented in nude art. "With Bare Men I set out to create editorial photographs of nude men that were comparable to nude images of women. I wanted to see men presented artistically, emotionally and being themselves sans clothing."
